Gracious Light

Statement

As the shadows stretched and the first chill of autumn arrived, we found ourselves in Honfleur. The final stop on our creative journey.

We had walked in Monet’s shadow through the gardens of Giverny and wandered eastwards in search of the lavish splendour of Versailles where the Baroque architecture bumps up alongside contemporary art.

It is hard to arrive in Honfleur and not be immediately delivered back to the ever-changing light and fluid brushwork of late 19th-century Impressionism. Meandering in the footsteps of so many giants and enjoying the simple pleasure of making images in plein air.
